Aki Burayidi

Akiwele (Aki) Burayidi is a birth doula based in Chicago, Illinois. Aki brings to her work a passion for the mind-body connection, social justice, and evidence-based birthing practices.

Aki has a long-standing dedication to improving maternal health outcomes. A certified Full Spectrum Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Yoga Instructor, Aki is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Health Promotion & Health Equity. She has worked with families in Chicago since 2023, and previously taught childbirth classes to expecting parents at a hospital in Madison. Aki has taken additional coursework through Birthing Advocacy to provide a birth experience that is trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and inclusive. Her approach includes a focus on community and somatic awareness.

In addition to her birth work, Aki is a certified yoga instructor with a strong background in mindfulness.This experience allows her to coach birthing people and their partners to deepen connection to their own bodies and needs during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum time.

Aki has a unique ability to keep people calm and make people feel cared for, even in stressful situations. She is committed to giving her best in every situation to provide the best possible care!
