Akia Richards is an ICEA-trained Birth and Postpartum Doula proudly serving families in Houston, Texas. Her mission is to provide mothers with personalized, unbiased, and evidence-based care that supports the healthiest outcomes for both mom and baby. Akia's practice is deeply rooted in fostering empowerment, trust, and connection, ensuring every family feels confident and supported throughout their journey.
With 4 years of experience, Akia has had the privilege of supporting mothers at every stage of motherhood—from pregnancy and birth to postpartum recovery and beyond. She understands that each birth story is unique, and she tailors her care to align with your individual needs, preferences, and values.
Akia’s passion for maternal health and advocacy extends beyond her doula services. She has completed additional coursework at Dillard University through their Health Equity Advocacy & Lactation (HEAL) Certified Professional Program, earning her a Lactation Counselor Certification. This training enables her to provide expert guidance in breastfeeding and infant nutrition, helping moms navigate one of the most important aspects of early parenthood. When she’s not supporting families, Akia enjoys nurturing her creative side through sewing and crocheting—practices that she believes bring balance and mindfulness into her work.
Akia looks forward to helping you create a birth and postpartum experience that is as empowering, peaceful, and joyful as it is life-changing.
My hope for every client is that they leave feeling informed enough to make the best decisions for themselves and their baby, empowered enough to confidently advocate for their needs, and loved enough to feel like family after our time together.
