Bio

Allyson Murden is a compassionate and dedicated Newborn Care Specialist, Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, and Business Owner based in the Greater Chicago Area. With a particular passion for supporting families during their journey into parenthood, Allyson aims to make the transition to parenthood a smooth and beautiful experience. She has successfully counseled and educated families in various areas from pregnancy and beyond, offering support and evidence-based information relating to pregnancy, birth, newborn care, early childhood development, and the family unit.

As the owner of Blessed Beginnings with Allyson Newborn Care and Childbirth Services, LLC, since November 2015, Allyson provides emotional support to parents in the last trimester of pregnancy. She uses comfort measures such as breathing, relaxation, movement, positioning, massage, and counter pressure. Allyson helps parents become informed about various birth choices and continuously reassures and comforts the birthing person by remaining at their side throughout labor and delivery. She encourages people to advocate for themselves and facilitates communication between the birthing person and care provider.

In the newborn stage, Allyson creates a smooth transition for families by assisting with setting a routine, providing overnight care, and implementing sleep training when appropriate. She educates and supports parents by offering instruction on proper swaddling, feeding, changing, bathing, and more. Allyson's comprehensive care includes feeding, diapering, umbilical cord care, circumcision care, burping, bottle sterilization, and assisting mothers with breastfeeding. She maintains a thorough log of infant feeding and sleeping patterns, assures a safe environment, and initiates a schedule for sleeping and feeding. Allyson also assists parents with night feeding and provides skilled techniques to soothe fussy or colicky babies.

In addition to her hands-on care, Allyson has cultivated and maintained relationships with healthcare providers to offer childbirth education and doula services to their patients. Allyson's dedication to her clients and her comprehensive approach to newborn care and childbirth education make her a trusted and invaluable resource for new families. "I love helping families navigate the journey into parenthood and providing the support they need to feel confident and empowered," says Allyson.
